Summary | 0006067: Windows service fails to start when desktop is slow to initialize
Description | On restart of a Windows machine, the service manager complained that it timed out waiting for the SymmetricDS service to start. Switching from java.exe (console command) to javaw.exe (windows GUI command) fixed it. The theory is that the service was being initialized before the desktop was available and java.exe wanted to display a console window. Switching to javaw.exe, even though no GUI classes are used, avoids the console window, so the service can start without a desktop environment.
